The origin of Chiaretto, by tradition, is attributed to Pompeo Molmenti (Venice 1852 - Rome 1928), an eclectic figure and noble personality of Italian intellectual life at the time, who invented the first version of Chiaretto in Moniga del Garda, located in Valtenesi, a small locality in the province of Brescia overlooking Lake Garda. It can be said, therefore, that the true origins of Chiaretto are from Brescia.
Crisp and refreshing, but with delectable aromas of pink flowers and red berry fruits. A wine whose apparent simplicity and easy-drinking style conceal the meticulous care we have devoted to its every detail.
GRAPE VARIETY: 70% Corvina - 20% Rondinella, 10% Other varieties (Molinara, Sangiovese)
PRODUCTION AREA: Sirmione and Pozzolengo
VINE PROTECTION METHODS: Integrated pest management; controlled environmental impact.
PRODUCTION METHOD: Soft pressing of the grapes and careful selection of the freerun juice. Alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 12°C for around 20 days, followed by cooling of the wine to 5°-8°C.
HARVEST TIME: Second half of September
MATURATION PROCESS: Maturation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Natural tartaric stabilisation.
TASTING NOTES: A brilliant “old rose” hue. Pink flowers and small red fruits (wild strawberries and redcurrants), as well as citrusy notes of pink grapefruit. Hints of iodine and of aromatic herbs. Refreshing and tangy, with an appealing citrusy finish.
GASTRONOMIC PAIRINGS: Hors d’oeuvres, fish dishes, white meats and soft cheeses.
