Vignamadre since 1991, our approach to modern winemaking has been inspired by ancient wisdom and a spiritual connection with nature. This philosophy allows us to transform grapes into their most iconic and elevated earthly expression: wine—a gift that delights the senses and evokes timeless emotions.
Pecorino is an ancient native grape variety from Abruzzo, with origins dating back to ancient times. However, in the 20th century, it risked extinction due to its low yield. It wasn’t until the 1980s that it was rediscovered, sparking a true revival that has made it celebrated today for its unique qualities' The name "Pecorino" carries a fascinating and unusual story. Contrary to what one might think, it is not connected to the famous cheese but to the world of shepherding. Legend has it that sheep, during their transhumance, were particularly drawn to the sweet and juicy clusters of this grape, earning it the nickname "sheep’s grape," which eventually became Pecorino.
