The origins of Gavi di Gavi wine can be traced back to centuries ago in the Gavi region of Piedmont, Italy. Gavi di Gavi is a white wine produced in the municipality of Gavi, located in the province of Alessandria. The production of Gavi di Gavi wine is closely linked to the Cortese grape variety, which is the only grape authorized for the production of this wine. The Cortese grapes are cultivated in the hills surrounding the municipality of Gavi, particularly in the areas with limestone soils that characterize the region. This type of soil imparts a unique and distinctive profile to the wine. The history of Gavi di Gavi wine is connected to the aristocratic family of the Marchesi di Gavi, who played a significant role in promoting and disseminating this wine. Over the centuries, the Marchesi di Gavi contributed to the development and improvement of wine production in the region, garnering recognition and appreciation both nationally and internationally.
